Top five Places to visit in Jodhpur
TOP FIVE PLACES TO VISIT IN JODHPUR
Best Time to Visit Jodhpur
It was during the onset of winter, assisted by Jodhpur tourism I made my travel plans to compile a list of places to visit in Jodhpur. With the help of my friend also a Rajasthani, who was travelling with me and a couple of friends I could draw up a list of Jodhpur tourist places.
We made reservations with one of the best resorts in Jodhpur. Only upon arrival, we were informed that the booking was for the next day. We quickly searched for hotels in Jodhpur and the best hotels in Jodhpur seem to be either the 5-star hotels in Jodhpur spread across the city. Considering our itinerary had plenty of Jodhpur city sightseeing in the old city area and going by the recommendation of the taxi driver who drove us from Jodhpur airport we selected a cosy heritage place very close to Ghanta Ghar.
Staying in Old Walled City
It turned out to be a blessing in disguise. I had the opportunity to catch the view of the impressive Mehrangarh fort. The terrace of my budget-friendly hotel provided this wide panoramic view. Check-in formalities were completed quickly. It was dusk by that time and very soon the lights came on. The feeling is indescribable when the massive fort came on lit discreetly to enhance the scale and magnificence. The feeling was overwhelming. I highly recommend the sight – Viewing the Illuminated of Mehrangarh fort when in Jodhpur.
The Umaid Bhavan palace from Mehrangarh fort. Please note this is behind the fort area and not inside. The entrance to the fort is only after 9 AM.
Looking back on how the day unfolded, I am sharing my travel and food activities that we managed to cover.
Jodhpur is also known as sun city as well as the 'Blue City '. http://www.tourism.rajasthan.gov.in/jodhpur.html
Here is a list of the top five must-visit places while in Jodhpur
It took me decades to land in ‘blue city’, Jodhpur. As a young teen, I remember visiting Jaipur as part of the golden triangle tour along with my parents and siblings. In my last decade of extensive travels, I visited the Mewar and Marwar region but hadn’t struck Jodhpur and Bikaner off my bucket list.
The morning Sunrise Tour of Mehrangarh
I did not want to miss the sunrise therefore I was ready to leave very early. Fortunately, I found an auto driver who was willing to take me to the blue city which is now limited to an area behind the Mehrangarh fort. One can either walk or cycle the distance of 4-5 km from Ghanta Ghar or Makrana Mohalla. This would be possible if you have a guide to take you through the narrow winding bylanes.
Of course, if you have time and are willing to explore slowly even the cycle tour map would be handy but that was not the case with me. I was heading to the resort that evening soon after sunset, which was located on the outskirts of the city a little far away from here.
Here is my list of
Top 5 places to visit in Jodhpur

3. Sunrays kissing the walls of the massive Mehrangarh Fort.
Sunrise or sunset the Mehrangarh fort has that special something for everyone visiting this Rajasthan city- Jodhpur.
5. These memorials are exquisite in style and architecture, which makes for a good photo op for most people gathered to do only that more than study the details, around here.

I spent one day in Jodhpur and could only visit Mehrangarh Fort and explore the blue city area. I only saw Ghanta Ghar from a distance in the night.
